The interpretation and analysis of media and news stories is an essential skill to develop and hone in students especially in today’s world of “alternative facts”.
At the beginning of second trimester, during the media literacy project, 9th grade students worked on turning around urban legends and fairy tales.
These creative processes segued into critical thinking sessions on the news, media and journalism and how to navigate them in a responsible manner. The students conducted media literacy workshops for their classmates based on the skills and understanding they had acquired.
